Deer Lake Fire Rescue History
In 1950, Deer Lake's first volunteer fire department was established consisting of 10 members which has since grown to 25. During the past 50 years, a total of 130 volunteers have served their community with pride and dedication.
On March 3, 1952, the Deer Lake Volunteer Fire Department purchased its first Fire Truck, which is still in use today for special events. This unit has a total of 8,070 miles and still runs on the original tires.
Today the fire department operates a 1995 GMC Topkick Pumper (built by Metalfab), 1972 Ford Thibault Pumper, 2004 GMC Rescue Van used to transport the firefighters equipment, and a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Rescue Unit.
